Fixing a rubbing denture involves more than finding a sore and trimming the nearest bit of plastic. Simon describes the wider assessment behind a useful adjustment.
Check the fitting surface and borders
Pressure can develop where soft tissues have different thicknesses, or where a border extends into a moving area. The clinician can inspect the mouth and use checking materials to locate contacts more precisely.
Check the bite as well
An uneven tooth contact can rock the denture and produce soreness somewhere else. If that is the cause, removing material from the fitting surface alone may not solve it. Simon emphasises considering how the appliance functions as a whole.
Laboratory knowledge can inform the review
An articulator is equipment used to help examine how upper and lower teeth work together. Simon discusses its role alongside his experience making dentures. Each review still depends on your mouth and appliance; no video can establish which adjustment you need. Leave drilling, trimming and bite changes to a trained clinician.
