There is no single date when every new denture wearer is ready for steak. Simon's answer centres on comfort, confidence and the way the denture is working.
Start with easier textures
A new denture can take practice. Softer foods give you a chance to learn where the teeth meet and how to chew without putting demanding forces through the appliance immediately. There is no need to rush to a challenging meal.
Build up gradually
When you feel comfortable, try small pieces of tender food and progress at your own pace. Cutting food before it goes into your mouth is often easier than tearing it with your front teeth. Avoid forcing through pain or repeatedly dislodging the denture.
Review problems rather than waiting indefinitely
If you cannot progress because of soreness, movement or difficulty bringing the teeth together, ask for an assessment. The video is general advice, not a promise that every denture can manage every food straight away. If you have just had teeth extracted, your aftercare instructions also determine what and when you should eat.
